So True

School, and work, and books, and way too much

Been too busy to even breath for the past month!

Thad and I have moved out of the apartment, and into a beautiful loft closer to school. Three cheers for not having to drive 64miles round trip to get to school!! The apartment is wonderful, and luckily the complex has a laundry facility (surprisingly very nice too!) in the basement. So it's almost like living in the dorms again, which is wonderful.

Started a new jobs. I am now a bookseller, which considering the majority of all my possessions are books, this suits me just fine. Finally found a job where I can have fun, play with books all day, and everyone I work with is fun and crazy like me. Ask me about the release party I'm planning for Beetle the Bard!

Classes have started. I have stupidly taken 18 hours this semester ( in addition to working), but I have to finish school soon. Being a student is awesome, but I'm more than a little tired of being flat ass broke all the time. Four years of rice, ramen, spam and mac and chesse is more than enough for my, my palate and my gastroinstinal track. Plus I'm working in the writing center. And I volunteered to teach a high school SAT Verbal Prep class today, for Fridays and Saturdays. >.< When will I sleep? If you guessed never, you guessed correctly.

Other than that I'm trying to finish up all those craft projects and start new ones..... I've got tons of embroidery and croechet christmas presents to make this year, as well as some woodworking. And I'm getting more and more frustrated by the lack of quality crochet patterns for clothes (other than scarves and hats). Crochet is not the half retarded step sister of knitting people!!! Its actually much harder, and deserves its own shelf on the racks at the craft stores, not one or two volumes sheepish hidden on the bottom shelf. humph.

With that said, off to do homework and eat mini marshmallows.

Oh....and just on a side note, I offically feel like a grown up. You know when you parents say "Oh that was popular when I was your age" or "everything comes back in style eventually". Well I heard the Jonas Brothers on the radio the other day and thought it was Hanson. And then when I mentioned this to my little cousins they asked me, "What's Hanson?" O.o

Jareth through the bubble

Too busy

I really hate some holidays. Honestly, I only like Thanksgiving and Christmas, and thats because of the cooler weather. Who can honestly celebrate when it is 99 degrees outside?? No thank you.

Working non stop lately on lots of things. Work foremost. Then my crochet, which my baby doll dress from Crochet Me! has been giving me some trouble.... I am supposed to stitch the front of the bodice in two separate pieces, but stitching them together breaks up the ribbed pattern and is VERY obvious. It does not look like this in the pictures, so I've been going crazy. Luckily I think I have figured it out, and will simply unravel the beginning row (thank god I didn't stitch the tail in yet) until I can pick up the ribbed pattern again.

Watercolors are at a standstill. I have received my prompts for the [info]labyfic fic echange, but don't really know which one to do yet... I'm excited, but a little worried about how my recipient will like it. Butttttt.... I have until Oct. to work on it.

The rest of today is going to be peppermint tea and naps. Or nothing at all.

Childlike

(no subject)

At work, mooching off of their high speed internet.

So I've almost finished the bodice of the crochet dress I'm making. It's from this month's issue of Interweave Crochet, but is also in the editor's new book "Crochet Me!" which I WANT.
See? Isn't it beautiful? )

Of course I'm still finishing my cathedral window quilt, knitting scarves for this winter already, and finishing up some crewlwork and cross stich. I'm also watercoloring a set of greeting cards.

It looks like AC Moore threw up in my living room.

Trying to keep my anxiety under control without meds, but its getting harder and harder. Especially considering that I HATE our apartment and dream about moving to a non-mold infested one everyday. That, combined with having to drive 64 miles round trip to go to classes in the fall (and it now takes $50 to fill my car's 12 gallon tank up) make for stress filled days and nights full of grinding my teeth.

On a happier note, today was Cholé's birthday! I didn't get to celebrate with her because I (of course) had to work. I feel really bad about it. I haven't been keeping up with my friends like I should... which of course makes me worried that I'm going to be one of those sad old woman whose best friends are their cats. Anyway. Chris, her boyfriend, is an AMAZING artist and took this shot of her in his backyard...

He's maybe the most talented person I've ever met, and she's the most GORGEOUS person I've ever met. Luck-ey.

So True

YAY!

Just got back from antique shopping! I found the most WONDERFUL banana bowl. It almost like the one my great aunt kept on her dinning room table.

It's a good day

Back again!

So it seems that in the time that I last used my LJ account, I have lost my password AND changed my email address..... so I just had to make a new one.

Working on my criticism piece on McCarthy, which will hopefully get published sometime at the end of the summer.

That said, I'm picking up fan fiction again too. Which means 'Beyond Strange Love' will be revamped and finished. It’s amazing how quickly 5 years of inactivity can fly by. Well, fan fiction inactivity anyways. Moving three times, finishing my bachelors degree and starting my masters isn't quite inactive, is it?

Working on a piece called "A Season for Peaches" to get back into the swing of things. Looking for another beta reader, since my first one was...erm... not working. Let’s just say a lot of criticism without anything constructive behind it is not really helpful. Especially not helpful to a seasoned fan fiction reader and published author whose trying to get back into the game. So yeah, looking for a beta that will give balance constructive criticism, and not "this completely sucks, we'll pretend you just didn't write it" kind of criticism.

And that's about it.

Trying not to melt to death in the heat and humidity. Really, I've lived here my whole life but I always seem to get taken by surprise when summer rolls around. Lots of water and lemonade for everyone.

Also trying to figure out how to post pictures to LJ…really, as long as I’ve been on here how have I not figured this out yet?
